Our project was to make an essentially practical sail course with solid theoretical basis on a good-sized ocean sailboat.
We found Terra Firme and Skipper Sérgio with whom we had already made a super day charter.
It was four intense days when we learned a lot.
We finished the course with two certainties:
1 - We chose the teacher correctly;
2 - We feel ready to begin the adventure of sailing alone.
We will continue with classes in Terra Firme until we find our boat.

Me and Nina work as a climbing guide in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro, we like adventure and we did a day charter with Sergio which was very good. On this occasion we caught a southwesterly wind of approx. 40 knots (cold front entry) and the sailboat behaved very well and Sérgio, very calm, made all the necessary maneuvers to return to the Marina safely and quietly.
Then we decided to take the sailing course with him. The theoretical part is very good, you can clearly understand how the sailboat works. And the practical part, the maneuvers, was easy to assimilate because Sergio is patient and explains in detail all the steps of the maneuvers.

Sergio was indicated by a friend from the sailing world as a straight forward person and a very good person to start everything: right to the point! We had already taken another course that we didn't like, and as soon as we met Sergio, he “matched” and we asked ourselves why we had wasted time and money before. Having graphic art as a profession, Sergio has an objective, graphically pleasing and didactic book. An efficient method. During classes, he knows how to dose the lessons, releasing the information in gradual doses, respecting our natural time for absorbing new information. Students live real situations and “have to put hands to work”, making the absorption of knowledge fast. He generously shares his accounts of the day to day sailing and practical and everyday issues, very important for this type of course. He gives respectful and didactic explanations for the doubts raised. We learned and had a lot of fun during these 4 classes!
